2008 Operation Purple Camp for Army Wounded Warrior Symposium

The National Military Family Association (NMFA) is pleased to announce that in conjunction with the Army Wounded Warrior (AW2) Symposium NMFA will host an Operation Purple® day-camp for children ages 7-17 coping with the injury to a family member. This specialized camp experience will incorporate additional emotional support into daily camp activities -- without losing the focus on fun!

Day campers will have the opportunity to participate in high adventure activities such as horseback riding, high and low ropes course, rock climbing, go carting and more. The primary focus of all activities is to assist in important life skills such as increased esteem and confidence, relationship connection, teamwork, communication and resiliency. Participants will have the opportunity to try new activities, set and achieve goals and explore reaching their greatest potential!

Campers will be taken offsite daily to participate in numerous outdoor recreational activities at White River State park, which is approximately three miles from the symposium. Campers will participate in various Operation Purple activities and programs.

Several opportunities for combined parent and child activities will be made available during the evenings giving parents and children the chance to participate in family friendly fun.

Dates: 22-29 June 2008
Ages: 7-17

This camp is open to all children ages 7-17 whose parents are attending the AW2 symposium.
